The NLRC’s Collaborative Professional Development offers financial support to a variety of professional development activities that benefit LCTL (less commonly taught languages) instructors across K-16 education. LCTL educators can use this form to apply for funding to support their event.
What is the funding?
Collaborative Professional Development funding consists of small grants, usually $200-$500 per event, to support workshops, webinars, seminars, etc. that promote the professional development of LCTL instructors.
What kind of events are eligible?
Anyone involved with LCTL education in the United States is eligible to apply for funds for their event, including graduate students. Funding can be used for general support of an event, or specifically for speaker fees. Speakers must be eligible to be paid in the United States. MSU faculty cannot be paid speaker fees.
What does the application process entail?
To apply, submit the following via completing this Qualtrics form:
- Short bio statements or resumes or CVs of the event organizer(s), including link(s) to at least one professional online profile if possible (school/university directory page, academia.edu, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Budget of the overall event
- Description of the event (including plans for dissemination and evaluation)
Applications are evaluated according to the scope of audience and the impact of the event for LCTL educators.
How is funding disbursed?
For successful applications, funding will be provided as reimbursements
after the event has taken place. Event organizers must submit a short report (template will be provided) for funds to be released.
